INPSY member Jana Fikrlová visited the ISSBD 2024 conference in Lisbon, Portugal. The International Society for the Study of Behavioural Development (ISSBD) focuses on the study of human development and brings together experts and practitioners from various disciplines who come from different parts of the world.
The program included contributions by scientists, which were presented in different thematic blocks. Jana Fikrlová presented in the section that focused on exploring various factors related to the civic engagement of young people in political and social contexts. Her paper was about adolescents' willingness to engage in (non-)normative political participation.
Can viewing pornography lead men to see women as objects rather than human beings? A new study co-authored by Anna Ševčíková and Lukas Blinka from INPSY shows that the problem goes beyond the issue of frequent porn viewing.
The perception of one's own body, known as interoceptive awareness (IA), plays a key role in both mental health and the psychotherapeutic process. It helps us to recognize bodily signals such as hunger, heartbeat or breathing and connect them to our emotions. Scientists are still trying to better understand how people perceive their bodily signals and how these signals relate to their mental health. The team of authors from INPSY/Center for Psychotherapy Research set out to investigate the interrelationships between different aspects of IA, and to test the properties of the Czech version of the MAIA questionnaire that measures IA.
