Research focus of the institute

The Institute for Research on Children, Youth and Family is currently running a number of research projects on a range of topics in developmental and social psychology. Each research topic is targeted by one research team. The list of topics on which the research projects are based and research teams can be found here.

The topics include research on family, parenting and family relationships, and on attachment, which extends beyond early development to emotional bonds in adulthood or in partner relationships. We also research adolescence and emerging adulthood. We examine the psychology of the internet, digital media, cyberculture and internet safety. One research team studies adolescents’ participation in civil society, their perception of democratic principles and psychological and social factors related to these. We also analyze talent and talented children, and we develop specific diagnostic methods. The Institute promotes high-quality statistical and methodological background to the research, and the psychometrics team focuses on various aspects of measuring human characteristics in different contexts.
