Our member Gabriela Gore-Gorszewska has received support from the GACR for her project titled Sexual health and well-being among Czechs and Poles 50+ in the context of information and support seeking!
The population of sexually active adults aged 50+ is growing worldwide. Although sexual life at older ages brings many benefits, adults aged 50 and over rarely seek information or help about sexual health and well-being (SH&WB). Scientific knowledge about the factors that contribute to this reluctance is limited. The aim of this project is to conduct a survey among adults 50+ in the Czech Republic and Poland, focusing on their SH&WB behaviours. Through a questionnaire survey, the role of selected demographic characteristics (age, gender, education level), intrapersonal factors (perceived threat, past experiences of help-seeking) and specific factors such as incentives to act or access to services will be explored in relation to SH&WB information/support-seeking behaviour. Qualitative data from group discussions on problematic scenarios (vignettes) will be used to place these findings in the context of participants' specific health care systems and lived experiences.
The aim of the project is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the factors that relate to SH&WB information/support seeking among adults 50+, as well as information on the extent of support needed, their concerns, expectations and needs related to SH&WB in their daily lives.
Congratulations, Gabi!
